For over twenty years, Chris Bailey has been a maker of handcrafted creations in the Santa Barbara, CA area. He specializes in picture frames that showcase the timeless beauty of traditional styles and craftsmanship. He has mastered the skills of wood carving and water gilding of genuine gold leaf. Only then, recipes of toners, varnishes, and waxes are applied to compliment his work with the finest quality finishes.
Chris received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1996 from the University of Florida. During his time in college, he practiced many of the fine arts such as drawing, painting, and even wood carving. He never imagined that one day he would apply those skills to framing fine art and become one of the most talented individual makers in the craft. A craft that dates back for centuries and still uses the same techniques that makers applied in those times. They include carving into natural wood profiles to create ornate designs as well as water gilding of genuine gold leaf to create luminous surfaces. It all starts with the use of solid natural woods, the same as any high-end furniture maker. In fact, Chris often refers to his work as furniture for your walls. HIs clients include Museums, Galleries, Collectors, Auction Houses, Artists, Architects, and Interior Decorators.
Chris' services include the design and making of picture frames, mirrors, sconces, bases, as well as professional art services such as wood carving, gold leafing. He also provides fitting services with conservation materials including museum matting and glazing with all products ready to install.
